Both New York state and New York City are making plans to continue their popular tax incentive programs to lure film and television production projects here. The city is introducing legislation in Albany this week to extend its tax credit through 2011, though it is making changes to the terms. Under the new legislation, the city is proposing a 4% credit, down from the original 5%, on projects that do 75% of their work in the city. If you are a facility that rents space for film/tv production, or if you are part of a film/tv crew, the continuing of City and State tax incentives - albeit slightly reduced - is good news.
