They're Already Out There

Figment 2009 takes place this weekend on historic Governors Island off Lower Manhattan, June 12-14.  This three day participatory arts event is free and covers about everything you could think of - sculptures, installations, workshops for kids, performance art, grunge bands, improv comedy, yoga, multimedia, and electronica.  Perhaps you're thinking 'aha' - what about tribal bellydances? Have they got that too?  Yep.

Our top secret communications (also known as the Figment e-newsletter) tells us the artists are already out and about the historic island, setting up artwork to amuse and mystify.  Maps of the island, directions to Battery Maritime, schedules for the free ferry- it's all there on their website.  NYC in the summer is the best place in the world.
