LMCC Swing Space Applications & Info Sessions
Posted by Kirsten Nordine, on June 9, 2009 - 0 comments
Tags: space grants, downtown

The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC)'s Swing Space is a space grant program that connects artists and arts organizations with vacant commercial space downtown. Awards may come in the form of studio, rehearsal, office, installation, and exhibition space and are typically for one to six months.  Individual artists working in the visual arts, performing arts, or new media; independent curators; dance and theater companies; and arts organizations can apply.  LMCC will accept applications June 15 through July 17, 2009.

If you are interested in applying LMCC strongly urges you to attend one of their information sessions.  The June 22 session is already full, but you still have time to RSVP for July 1, 4:00pm at 77 Water Street, 10th Floor.  Read more and RSVP here.

Another Season at the Ohio Theater

Back in January the Times reported that downtown's legendary Ohio Theater had received a six-month reprieve from eviction but was prepared to close its doors as early as June.  We got some good news yesterday from Robert Lyons at the Ohio, who says he has the opportunity to program a fall season!  It's pretty last minute, so they have holes in the schedule that need filling (September or December anyone?).  The Ohio Theater is now listed on NYC Theatre Spaces, so check there for the details and contact info.
