With over 860 music performances taking place in public spaces in all five boroughs, the whole city will come alive with a festival of live (and FREE) music-making.

The official Make Music New York website is chock full of music schedules and maps, so you'll know the full who-where-when.

Make Music New York, described by city officials as 'one of the largest musical events in the city's history' has an upcoming deadline.   There's only three days left to register for this year's festival on June 21.  This fantastic event has grown by leaps and bounds in the past few years - every corner of NYC public space will be crammed with Latin jazz, punk rock, hip hop, Chinese opera, African percussion plus a whole lot of other things we can't even think of yet.  The deadline is Friday April 24.  Log on, register and then start practicing.  That accordion is not going to learn itself.

If you don't know about it already, Make Music New York (MMNY) is a free festival of music performances occurring in public spaces all over NYC on June 21st, the first official day of summer.  The concerts last from late morning until 10:00pm and happen in parks and gardens, streets and sidewalks, stoops, the list goes on...  Last year featured 875 free performances by 3,200 musicians in genres as varied as opera, hip hop, punk rock, and jazz (to name only a few).

Make Music New York is now in its third year.  Already hundreds of artists have signed up to perform and MMNY organizers have secured dozens of parks permits.

If you're a musician and are interested in performing you need to sign up soon!  Registration closes April 24th.
