Happy New Year from
NYC Performing Arts Spaces!
More than halfway through January and we're still writing "2009" occasionally... but what better moment to reflect on the past year?
We are certainly proud of our accomplishments, which included:
- * Keeping our online databases -- with over 1,600 detailed listings of New York City performing arts spaces -- completely free.
- * Using our Facebook page, Twitter, this blog and our e-newsletter, PAS/pace, to keep you informed of residencies, grants, events, housing opportunities and new spaces in the NYC performing arts community.
- * Assessing the impact of the economic downturn on New York-based performing artists and cultural facilities via survey (read the results [PDF]).
- * Developing and awarding the first Con Edison Musicians' Residencies.
In 2010, we'll continue to build on these achievements by:
- * Adding even more spaces for theatre, dance, music, film and special events to nycPASpaces.org.
- * Becoming the prototype for other space databases that will be developed in other U.S. cities.
- * Connecting more NYC musicians with their communities through an expansion of the Con Edison Musicians' Residencies: Composers Program (read the overview, guidelines and application here).
- * Continuing to study problems that impact performing artists in NYC, such as with our current Mellon Dance Space Needs Assessment Study.
We wish you peace, comfort and inspiration for the coming year!
Thanks for your continuing support!
